In this month’s meeting, you’ll hear from Brooke Warner, Publisher of She Writes Press, about the ins and outs of what publishing routes are available to authors that fall outside of the Big Five. This is not only a session about hybrid and self-publishing, but also about small presses, indie presses, micro presses, and university presses. Traditional publishing has been contracting for years, with the barriers to entry getting ever higher. That doesn’t mean your publishing options are contracting, however. Quite the contrary. Still, you need to know what’s what in order to have the confidence and competence to find the best path for you. This meeting will cover all these bases and more.
You’ll learn:
- What does indie publishing encompass?
- What is the difference between indie and hybrid and self-publishing?
- Where does author platform fit into all this?
- What are the measures an author needs to hit if they still want to traditionally publish
- Success stories from inside the trenches of indie publishing
